Our API integrations are now part of the Standard Plan

We built Channable to empower online retailers and agencies to reach their customers across all channels and markets with easy-to-use and highly functional technology.

Offering these solutions in short development cycles and on a flat-fee basis also means we need to think critically about how we price our products and make adjustments accordingly.

That’s why, we’d like to announce the update of our API integrations to the Standard plan as of June 1st, 2022.

Read on to understand what the update of our API integration to our Standard plan means for you.

Why did we upgrade the API Marketplace and Google Shopping API integration?

Over the years, our API integration has evolved from a simple API connection to an end-to-end marketplace integration and fulfillment solution.

To provide and develop this functional upgrade, our API product team has nearly doubled in size and started focusing not only on optimizing product catalogs but also on:

  1. Repricing products to optimize profit margins
  2. Integrating analytics data for a more granular product segmentation
  3. Synchronizing order data for a faster and better fulfillment

And we are far from done. This year, we will keep on launching new marketplaces (Otto, Zalando, Walmart, MediaMarkt, etc), introducing smart categorizations based on AI, upgrading the interface of our Attribute Builder, and looking into the possibility of launching marketplace ads directly from our platform.

In a nutshell, we see the ability to easily integrate and manage marketplaces from A to Z as a crucial functionality for the future of retail, in which we want to invest and provide customers with the best possible software to do so.

However, we also realized that with our current plan structure, we can’t guarantee the same quality and release cycles anymore hence the decision to move our API integrations to the Standard Plan.

When will the change happen?

We will require all new customers, who want to connect to Marketplaces or Google Shopping via API integration, to have at least a Standard Package as of June 1, 2022, 00:01 CET.

However, we’re making an exception for existing customers who already have active API integrations in their starter package. We will grant all live connections, which have been set up before August 1, 2022. This means that you will be able to use them as per usual without any upgrade.

You only need to upgrade to a Standard Package for any additional marketplace channels you'd like to connect to after August 1, 2022.

What functionality is affected by the plan update?

All functionalities and features you are able to access and set up under the “API” button in our platform are part of this upgrade. This includes the API connections to Marketplaces and our Google Shopping API with all the add-ons, such as the repricer and order connection.

What exactly does this plan update mean for my subscription?

→ You are an existing customer with a starter plan and several live API Marketplace connections

If you’re currently using any API integrations or are planning to set up integrations before August 1, 2022, you'll be able to continue to use them with no price or package change. If you’re planning to connect to additional Marketplaces after August 1, 2022, we require you to upgrade to the standard plan.

For your existing connections, you’ll also be able to book add-ons without an upgrade to a new plan.

Once you have upgraded to a Standard or Professional plan, however, you'll have access to all the features in this particular plan and any grandfathering of the existing APIs is no longer required.

→ You are an existing customer with a starter package, who doesn’t use API integrations to Marketplaces or Google Shopping

This plan change doesn’t affect you, since only API connections will be part of the upgrade. Please note, however, that if you do want to use our API connections after August 1, 2022, you need to upgrade to the Standard Plan.

→ You are an existing customer with a standard or professional plan

This change doesn’t affect you. You’re able to connect to our Marketplaces and Google Shopping via our API Integrations as you wish and as long as you have an active standard or professional plan.

→ You are a new customer with a trial account

As of June 1, 2022, you have to activate a Standard Plan to use our API Integrations. If you plan on activating your subscription before June 1st, please reach out to our support team or customer success manager to discuss what the best options are for you.

Here are some more concrete examples and FAQs

→ I currently have a starter plan and run an Amazon and Bol.com API connection, but don’t plan to add any additional connections soon. How does this change affect me?

Since those connections are already live before August 1, 2022, you will be able to use them without any upgrade. In case you want to establish an additional API connection to other marketplaces after August 1st, you need to upgrade to our Standard plan.

→ I currently have a starter plan and run an Amazon and Bol.com API connection, and would like to add the repricer. Can I do that without upgrading?

Yes, you are able to add the repricer and other add-ons without any upgrade to all active API connections that have been activated before August 1, 2022.

→ I currently have a starter package, but don’t use API integrations to Marketplaces, but would like to start later this year, for example in October 2022. How does this change affect me?

Since you would like to connect to an API Marketplace after August 1, 2022, you need to upgrade to a Standard Package in order to be able to use our API Marketplace functionality.

→ I currently have a standard (or professional) plan and use several API Marketplace connections. Does this update affect me too?

Nothing changes for you. You are able to use our API Integrations without limitations as long as you have your standard or professional plan active.

→ I am currently on a trial account but would like to activate a subscription to connect to an API Marketplace soon. Which one should I activate?

As of June 1, 2022 you have to activate at least a Standard Plan in order to use our API Integrations. If you plan on activating your subscription before June 1st, please reach out to our support team or customer success manager to see what the best options are for you. You can reach our support team here.

→ If I upgrade to the Standard Plan, can I go back to the starter package with my granted APIs?

Unfortunately, we cannot keep granting your API integrations once you have upgraded to the Standard Plan. Of course, you can always downgrade again to the Starter Plan, yet you won’t be able to use our API integrations with this plan anymore.

→ How do I change my plan?

You can change your subscription directly on our platform. Please refer to our HelpCenter article How do I change my Channable Plan? for more information.
