This case study explores how NeoSEM leveraged the Channable Image Editor to transform Verf4all.nl, a specialized paint webshop, by generating thousands of example color combinations and high-quality visuals to meet consumer search demand.
Verf4all.nl faced a significant challenge when it wanted to advertise more consumer-focused paint brands. The webshop had been built around a professional paint assortment, where products are usually sold by brand and product type, rather than by individual colors within large collections.
Consumer vs. pro search: Professionals search for product names (e.g., Sikkens Alphacryl), but consumers search specifically for color names within collections.
Website limitations: The webshop was built for professional mixing, not for showcasing extensive color collections or searches.
The "Base Product" problem: For brands like Little Greene, only 5 to 10 "base products" existed in the data feed, making it impossible to advertise the hundreds of specific colors people were actually searching for.
Subpar visuals: Existing product images were of poor quality, leading to low Click-Through Rates (CTR) in Google Shopping.
NeoSEM implemented a multi-layered strategy using Channable to bridge the gap between the website's current product structure and Google Shopping's requirements.
To ensure every color was searchable, NeoSEM moved beyond the website's current structure:
Data extraction: Using AI assistance via Chrome’s "inspect element," the team extracted color names, RGB codes, and IDs from the site's color picker into a spreadsheet, avoiding the need to involve developers in the process.
Product multiplication: They added these colors to base products as a long string and used Channable rules to split them into individual products for every variant.
Results: The feed grew from 36 base products to over 2,000 generated items for just one brand (pure & original).
Since real images for every color variant were not available or the proper quality, NeoSEM "built" them with Channable's Creative suite:
Channable Image Editor: The team isolated high-quality base images of paint buckets in Photoshop and used the Image Editor to dynamically overlay the correct color and name.
AI Integration: AI was used to create brush stroke templates, which were then combined with transparent bucket overlays to create professional-looking ads.
Innovative sourcing: Since the AI-generated products did not yet have color images available, they converted RGB color codes into a URL pattern using the Encycolorpedia website to generate and load the corresponding color images. This workaround was essential in order to use the Image Editor templates for these specific products.
To ensure a seamless user experience, NeoSEM worked with web developers to build direct linking:
By using URL parameters, users clicking an ad for a specific color were taken to a page where that exact color was pre-selected in the color picker.
In Channable, these new landing pages were then generated by combining the base product URL with the new 'color ID' parameter.
The path to success wasn't without its challenges:
Website limitations: The site was old and difficult to modify, forcing the team to find "off-site" solutions within the product feed.
Dependency risks: Relying on external domains like Encycolorpedia caused occasional import errors. NeoSEM solved this by downloading the images in bulk and hosting them on the client's own domain to ensure stability.
The results of this creative technical campaign were immediate:
| Metric | Improvement |
| Total Impressions | +62.7% |
| Total Clicks | +124.9% |
| Total Revenue | +89% |
Don’t let limited resources or technical limitations hold you back!
The NeoSEM team proved that with a bit of "out of the box" thinking, solutions like the Channable Image Editor can be used for far more than just dynamic content.
By essentially engineering a new product catalog outside of the client's restricted CMS, they successfully doubled revenue and scaled a small feed into a high-performing advertising machine.
